I have been at Two Fish Divers, Bunaken, for a while now but it was only last week that I was formally introduced to the dive master internship.
Within a day or two, one has a completely different perception of diving. One learns the ropes of managing a dive operation rather than just be on the boat and enjoy fun dives.
Yes agreed, there is a lot of manual labour involved, getting up early, loading tanks, equipment etc., rinsing the equipment but it is nice to experience diving from this perspective. It gives me the sense of confidence that I can see myself carrying on a successful dive independently.
Over the last week I assisted in two PADI Open Water Courses. This involved assisting the students in the pool sessions as well as in their open water dives. Darran, Olivier, Emma and Miren had successfully completed their PADI Open Water Course with Two Fish.
Along with assisting them I am also taking the Night Specialty with Two Fish. This was my first night dive this trip and yes, I was truly amazed. We dived at Lekuan III and it had plenty to offer – Octopus, Sponge Crabs, Decorative Crabs, Hermit Crabs, Shrimp – you name it!
Here’s to hoping that the next week of my internship is challenging and equally fun as the last! Cheers!
