Want to improve your dive skills?
The Advanced Open Water Diver course is a structured course where you gain additional experience and skills under the direct guidance of an instructor. We run the course on both Bunaken and Lembeh, this means that you can improve your dive skills whilst diving in the top dive locations of North Sulawesi and Indonesia.
On the course you will do a total of five adventure dives from the following list. The course has something for everyone, and our aim will be to make you better divers.
Advanced Open Water dives
It is mandatory that you do the adventure dives for Underwater Navigator and Deep Diver, and you can choose three others from the list below.

Description |
|
Underwater Navigation |
During your Underwater Dive you'll go on to familiarise yourself with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and enjoyment of underwater navigation. |
|
Deep Diver |
During your Deep Dive, you'll cover the knowledge, skills and techniques needed to dive deep to 30m. |
|
Wreck Diver |
During your Wreck Dive you'll go to our local ship wreck which is a 65m cargo ship that sunk over 50 years ago. You'll develop your knowledge and techniques for wreck dives. |
|
Night Diver |
During your Night Dive you'll go to one of our dive sites. You'll learn to prepare for night dive activities and develop your knowledge and techniques for night diving. |
|
Multilevel Diver |
During your Multilevel Dive you'll learn about the importance of multilevel diving, and you will be exposed to a variety of different types of multilevel dive calculators (the Wheel and various types of dive computers). |
|
Underwater Digital Photography |
During your Underwater Photography Dive you'll use our digital camera, and put in to practice the tips and techniques you learned from your instructor and the PADI Digital Underwater Photograghy Manual. |
|
Underwater Naturalist |
During your Underwater Naturalist Dive we will introduce you to different aquatic life and include an overview of responsible human interactions with aquatic life. Bunaken Island is a great place for this. It is known as one of the most diverse marine environments in the world - there is more than 2,000 species of fish and 400 species of corals, this is more than 70% of the know species in the world! |
|
Peak Performance Buoyancy |
During this dive you will learn Peak Performance Buoyancy fundamentals. It is an ideal opportunity to polish buoyancy control beyond the Open Water Diver level, and for most people this is the dive that improves their diving the most. |
What does the schedule look like?We can do the 5 course adventure dives over 2/3 days. For each adventure dive there is a chapter to read from your course manual, a knowledge review and then the dive.
Flexible Scheduling of Course Dives - some people find it more relaxing to mix the course adventure dives with fun dives during the time that they are here.
Ultimate Flexibility with Advanced Open Water with eLearning - With eLearning all the theory can be done online at PADI.com before you get here, this allows you to take your time to do the theory at home (days or weeks or months), and you will get more time for fun diving/relaxing when you are here.
What does the schedule look like?Since all the theory will have been completed by the time you get here, you just need to conduct the five course Adventure Dives. These can be done over 2/3 days, or mixed with fun dives during the time that you are here. Two of these are mandatory; the Deep Adventure Dive and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dive. The other three dives that you complete can be chosen from a wide range of Adventure Dives, we recommend Night Diver, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Naturalist, Underwater Photo and Wreck.
Register for Advanced Open Water with eLearning - To start eLearning, you need to register by clicking on the eLearning link on the left, this will take you to our page on www.PADI.com. When you register for the first time, there will be a registration fee of USD120 payable to PADI with your credit card (we refund part of this registration fee).

The Advanced Course and Specialty Courses
If you have time, you may want to consider doing a specialty course as well. This is a great way to gain additional experience and skills with extra dives in a particular subject, eg Wreck Diving.
Each dive on the advanced course is the first dive of the specialty course. For example, the deep dive on the advanced course is the first dive of the Deep Diving specialty course. You can therefore continue with some more deep dives to obtain the Deep Diving Specialty.
