In Sep 2008 Air Asia started direct 3.5hour flights between Kuala Lumpur and Manado, and prices can be as cheap as US$50 each way. This means it's even easier for divers to enjoy the world class diving in Bunaken National Marine Park, and to get up close and personal with the weird critters in Lembeh Straits.

There are many flights from Europe to Kuala Lumpur (eg with Malaysia Airlines), and this is probably cheaper than getting to Singapore.
