This week in Bunaken… The divers got a cephalopod sensation this week when they ended up among freshly hatched octopus and cuttlefish. During a dive over at the mainland, ‘the muck diving of Bunaken‘, Benita and Janine from Australia all of a sudden found themselves among heaps of tiny little octopus swimming around in the water as well as several baby cuttlefish hiding in the stag horn coral. It is all about being in the right place at the right time! (Photo: Phil Clarke)
In Belongas the Mobula Rays have come together for a spectacular underwater show at one of our famous dive sites Gili Sarang, South Lombok. 25 – 30 Mobula rays dancing around each other right next to the reef while in between the multi-coloured soft corals were blue spotted stingrays elevating themselves up around 2-3 feet in synchrony.
This week in Lombok … its frogfish time at the south gilis!
The about 10 centimetres green giant frogfish at our divesite in South Lombok “Pearl Beach” got some company. We count right now 3 of this amazing animals. The frogfish also named as commerson’s frogfish can grow up to 38 cm. They can change their coloration in a few weeks and their coloration is extremely variable.
