After diving for 6 years and getting myself certified as a Rescue Diver in Mar 2016, I reckon it’s time to upgrade my skills and experience in diving and take my diving to the next level: Dive Master. I’ve never really had the time to do this before, so now that I’ve made my office job history, it make sense to start the next chapter of my life adventure with getting my Dive Master certification.
We had a successful Rhinopias hunt this week at Two Fish Lembeh!
Third time return guest David heard that there were some recent Rhinopias sightings in Lembeh, and it was his goal to see one. Just as his no-deco time was getting low on his first morning-dive back in the Strait, he spotted a big, beautiful, Weedy Rhinopias (Rhinopias frondosa). Though Rhinopias are common in a select few dive destinations, Lembeh is not one of them. Because of their relative rarity in Lembeh, they are a highly sought after sighting for divers and photographers alike. But the hunt is not over yet! Word in the Strait is that there is a second, smaller Rhinopias nearby. David, and all the dive guides, will continue the hunt all week!
In the picture you see our divemaster trainee Sara in full action assisting our instructor Markus on her first open water course. Here she tells you how it came to it…: Back in Belgium an impulsive decision led to a range of beautiful moments and a step in life where I didn’t think of being ready for but now I can’t let go of the idea of becoming a divemaster.
We have a lot of courses going on in Bunaken at the moment! Our instructors Dion and Markus have their hands full currently…
We welcomed four new open water divers to the underwater world in the last ten days. Ten year old Finlay just finished his Scuba Diver Course yesterday and he is very excited to explore the amazing coral walls in Bunaken. We also had four Advanced Open Water course, two Rescue courses, two nitrox specialties, one night diver and one sidemount specialty course in the last few days. In our very popular Divemaster course, we have four dive master trainees in Bunaken at the moment.
We are now able to offer PADI TecRec instructor courses in Amed this summer after our IDC Course! Jeff Glenn, one of Asia’s most highly qualified and respected technical diving instructor trainers, will be joining us so why not take this opportunity to help you stand out from the instructor crowd?
It has been a Frogfish Frenzy in Lembeh this week! From big to small, from Hairy to Warty, from orange to black, and mated to single, I think we’ve seen a bit of it all! It hasn’t been only the variety of Frogfish that has impressed our Two Fish divers, but also the behaviors. Many of the Frogfish have been very active, awkwardly moving about the reef, chasing one another, chasing our divers (true story!), yawning and luring. Once again, Lembeh proves to be a Frogfish paradise!
It has been another epic month here when diving in Nusa Lembongan, the oceans have been gifting us with all sorts of wonders. Over at Manta Point there have been so many manta’s coming in to feed and be cleaned giving all the divers amazing close encounters 20 plus with each visit! At the north end of Nusa Penida we have also been very lucky with sightings of the magnificent Mola Ramsiay cruising along the reef only at 20m deep but we have also been treated to a very very rare sighting of a Thresher Shark, which is typically a very deep water shark only occasionally coming up to the shallow waters to be cleaned!!
