Go Pro with the PADI Divemater Course - Intensive Option
The intensive version of the PADI Divemaster course is run over 2-3 weeks and is aimed at experienced divers who already have 40+ logged dives, or for those divers who are already very comfortable with their diving. Its a great way to reach that first level of professional diving certification, and its run on Bunaken which means that you can Go Pro whilst diving one of the top dive locations of North Sulawesi and Indonesia.
Two Fish Philosophy
Our philosophy on the Divemaster course is to give you a professional course, and give you the experiences needed to be certified as a PADI Divemaster.
Why choose Two Fish for your DM Course
We think that we are different from other dive centers:
Great diving & staff
The diving is excellent & our staff are really friendly. We have had many Divemaster candidates with us and they have all found it hard work but great fun.
You will be on a tropical island and will have a full island experience: interacting with the local staff to get what you need (eg tanks loaded on boats), learning some of the language, helping to deal with guest and courses, doing lots of diving, and doing a professional DM course. Its great to do the Divemaster course here, but be warned as you will definitely be spoilt - there is no other diving like this in the world!
Experienced mentors
Unlike your previous courses, the DM course is a mentoring course and you will develop a strong mentor-type relationship with your instructor. This is why all our DM mentors are at least qualified as Staff Instructors, this means that they have already done many DM courses and therefore have the necessary experience to give you a very high quality DM course.
We have 2 Staff Instructors on staff that share the mentoring of the DM candidates. We also have 2 other instructors on staff that will help with some of your training, you will therefore be exposed to some different styles of instructors and this is a great benefit. We also have a 50% ratio of male/female instructors, and this adds another very interesting dimension to doing courses with us.
No Cheap Labour
We do not use our DM candidates as cheap labour as they do in some other shops, where you work in the dive shop and do the minimum number of dives. One of our strengths is the number of entry-level and advanced courses that we run, and we regularly use our internship candidates on these. We try and assign courses for you to look after, and we would expect you to help as follows:
- set up equipment
- help with dive site preparation and briefing
- assisting with teaching underwater
- leading dives
- washing and storing equipment on return
- de-briefing the guests with fish books, etc.
We even try and use our DM candidates when possible to help our guides with the guests so that you can get some experience with looking after certified guests underwater as well as on the land. Our benefit is that we can provide a better level of service for our diving customers.
Whats Included
The price of the Divemaster Intensive course includes:
- Divemaster Course
- Use of our library of PADI course manuals and videos/DVDs
- Full dive equipment rental. We do not have dive computers for use so we would expect you to have your own dive computer. We can provide Suunto computers for sale at very competitive prices.
Whats Excluded
What is not included in the price of the Divemaster Intensive course :
- Accommodation - our normal cottages range from €18 to €25 pp/night, but most of our Divemaster candidates choose a budget room for €12 pp/night with shared bathroom. These prices are full board to include food, coffee, tea and drinking water.
- Fun diving – we make a small charge of €12/dive for any non-course fun dives that you want to make. We also extend this price to our resort in Lembeh so you can end your holiday with a great value 3-day dive-pack in the muck-diving capital of the world.
- DM Manuals & Materials – the DM Crew Pak costs €180 and includes DM Manual, Knowledge Workbook, Diving Encyclopedia, RDP (RDP Table and eRDP-MultiLevel), DM slates and Instructor guides for programs that DM may conduct. These are mandatory for the DM course.
- PADI DM Membership - at the end of your internship you will need to send off your DM application to PADI and there is an annual fee of A$105 (Australian dollars).
- Visa - you can get a 30-day visa on arrival in Manado Airport, the price is about USD25. If you want to stay in Indonesia longer, you can get a 60-day visa, the price is about USD50. You can get this longer visa from an Indonesia embassy in your country before you leave; if you are already in Asia then the Indonesian embassies in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur can be used as well.
- Entrance Fee - there is a fee of approx €12 for entrance fee into the Bunaken marine park.
- Airport Transfers - we only ask for a bottle of wine and some novels to add to our library - these are hard to get here and is something that we miss about living on a tropical island!
