Dive with mantas and mola molas!

enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and world class diving service

Manta and mola day-trips from Bali

Our dive center is in Sanur but we also have a dive resort on Nusa Penida/Lembongan itself and dive the manta’s and mola-mola every day. We are in regular contact with our dive center giving us inside information where the Manta Rays and Mola Mola are – something other mainland dive centres in Sanur do not have!

Other reasons to choose Two Fish Divers:
3 dives Our trips are three dives including the Manta Ray, and the Mola-Mola during the season June-late-Oct.
Fast transfer Only 30mins from Sanur, pickup from your hotel at 7am and return for around 5pm.
Experts All of dive staff very familiar with the sites around Nusa Penida as all of them have spent a considerable amount of time diving from our dive resort on Nusa Penida/Lembongan.
Equipment 20 brand new sets of Aqua Lung dive equipment for rent, with a range of wetsuit types and sizes.
Small Groups Maximum of 4 divers per group, dive groups are arranged according to experience level and air consumption, and max bottom time of 75 minutes or 40bar.
Conservation Actively involved with the Coral Triangle Centre in Sanur, and member of the Lembongan Marine Association (LMA).

/// what is the diving like?

Some of the best diving around Bali can be found around Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, 15 kilometres and 30mins east of Sanur. The islands are a marine protected area so the coral is in great shape offering divers the chance to see Manta Rays and Mola-Mola, as well as Turtles, Reef Sharks, Trevally’s, Napoleon Wrasse, Dolphins, and if we’re lucky Wobbegongs, Bamboo Sharks and Thresher Sharks. There is also have a great variety of macro life such as Nudibranchs, Ribbon Eels, Leaf Scorpion Fish and even Blue Ringed Octopus.

/// what’s the temperature like?

The temperature of the waters around Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembonan can vary quite alot depending on the time of year and the dive sites. During Nov-June the water is on average 27 degrees at all the dive sites. During July-October the temperature can plummet to a chilling 13 degrees Celsius, it is therefore highly recommended that you bring along a warm suit if you are coming at this time with your own gear:

  • the chilliest site is Crystal Bay where the Mola-mola’s frequent

  • the Manta Ray dive sites are often cool, but not as cold as Crystal Bay, with temperatures down to 23 degrees possible
  • on the other sites at this time it is still possible to experience thermoclines, so you could go from 28 to 20 degrees pretty quickly!

/// What experience do you need?

Nusa Penida is open to all levels of diver, however due to challenging conditions we recommend that if you have not been diving in the past six months then you’ll need to do a quick refresher with us in the pool the afternoon before, or do a day of diving at any other location with us first. This is for safety reasons, the sites of Nusa Penida can have strong currents and a lot of surge.

The use of a dive computer is mandatory. If you don’t have your own, don’t worry! You can rent a dive computer from us for a small fee.

/// EXTRAS TO ENHANCE YOUR TRIP

You can rent a camera and underwater housing for the day for just $20, and we’ll transfer all of the photos to you when we’re back at the dive centre at the end of the day. Please request this when you book so we can reserve the camera for you.

If you don’t have dive insurance then we can provide cover from as little as US$6 per day, just mention it when you check in at the dive centre.

/// Is it good for snorkelers?

/// Indonesia Dive Safari

indo-dive-safari

As we have dive resorts in 5 locations around Indonesia, visiting us means that you can book a Dive Safari of more than one dive location with the same operator in one holiday.

Manado This is is only a 3-hour flight from Bali, and is where you will find the best wall-diving in Asia around Bunaken, and the best muck diving in the world around Lembeh Straits.
Lembongan We have a dive center on Nusa Lembongan itself, only a 30-min boat ride from Sanur. Described as “How Sanur was 30 years ago”, with fantastic reefs and manta’s only 10-20mins away it offers a great relaxing holiday.
Lombok You can add-on some diving in Lombok, its only a 30-min flight or 3hour ferry ride from Bali which makes it easy to dive both the Gili’s and the South Gili’s.

/// When is the best time to dive?

In the months from July to late October Mola-Mola spottings become common and this is the peak time in the season to spot them, especially at Crystal Bay.

Throughout the year sightings of Manta Rays are possible, in our experience there is about a 70% chance of seeing Manta Rays at the two sites.

Between December and March both Bali and Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Pendia experience some rain, but we do not have a typical monsoon and we are not affected at these sites by river run-off, so visibility remains good.

Please note that the schedule may change if weather does not permit, and if there are too many boats on Crystal Bay then we will change sites because diving Crystal Bay is very dangerous in these conditions.
