Today at Two Fish Lembeh our guests were lucky enough to see… PYGMY SEAHORSES, JUVENILE COCONUT OCTOPUS, LARGE COCONUT OCTOPUS, FLAMBOYANT CUTTLEFISH, THORNY SEAHORSE, JUVENILE SHAGGY FROGFISH, FRECKLED FROGFISH, 3 X PYGMY PIPEHORSES, MELIBE NUDIBRANCH, JUVENILE PAPUAN CUTTLEFISH & also 1 breaching EAGLE RAY! Great dives!
Also last night we were happy to see a family of TARSIERS in the trees around the resort! Unfortunately not all of our guests saw them as they were quite shy and jumped away after a while. Hopefully they will re-appear tonight!
After our successful explorations last week finding new dive sites, we decided to take a trip to the lesser known Pulau Dua around the back side of Lembeh.
The name “Pulau Dua” stems from it’s appearance… from a distance it resembles two islands, but on closer inspection it is just one.
We were welcomed with a beautiful morning, calm waters & a 45min ride to get there, the island is a picturesque pinnacle stretching up from far below +40m. We found beautiful corals and sponges, amazing visibility, plentiful reef fish and a variety of critters.
The new dive site is nicknamed THREE CORNERS and is a very good dive, the bottom is around 35m and starts out as white sand & rubble, it then turns into really pristine coral wall with lots of sea fans and many whip corals as well as lots of hard & soft corals. There is plenty of life here including all the main coral critters, NUDIBRANCHS aplenty, several ROBUST GHOSTPIPEFISH & also Melly was really thrilled to see her first BLUE RINGED OCTOPUS (Thanks again Leo!!). The new dive site was found by our guides Frans, Sem & Leo. Cheers guys!!
So yesterday in Lembeh we had many critters around for our guests here at Two Fish, in the morning everybody was privileged to see 6 x SEAHORSES (including the THORNY flavour), 4 x ROBUST GHOST PIPEFISH, LONG ARMED OCTOPUS, VELVETFISH, lots of FINGERED DRAGONETS & 1 x JUVENILE SEASNAKE. This morning we were also lucky enough to have 1 LEMBEH SEADRAGON (cheers for finding that one Leo!), many FROGFISH & also 2 x MIMIC OCTOPUS – lets see what everyone is lucky enough to find on the afternoon dive…
Here at Lembeh we’ve been having quite a good run of critters at the moment… Last night we saw a LEMBEH SEA DRAGON spotted and two TIGER SHRIMPS. This morning while we were heading out to our 1st dive site a pod of DOLPHINS went past us in the Lembeh Strait in between Magic Rock & Batu Sandar. Then when we did go under for the dive there were so many critters including JUVENILE AMBON SCORPIONFISH, two MIMIC OCTOPUSES and a few FROGFISH… the list goes on and on! This afternoon we saved a SARGASSUM FROGFISH as it was about to be washed up onto the beach with the incoming tide… It was safely put back onto a driftwood raft further out into sea!
