The Halimeda ghost pipefish was our favourite fish in Bunaken this week. We have a couple of divesites around Bunaken where the trained eyes of our diveguides find that cutie-pie! Here is some info about the rarity from Wikipedia: “Halimeda ghost pipefish, Solenostomus halimeda, is a species of false pipefishes belonging to the family Solenostomidae.…
What an amazing week in Bunaken! We had sunshine and calm seas the whole week and one amazing creature after the other was spotted! At Mandolin we saw four Dugongs in the shallows including a baby Dugong! At Fukui we had the nice surprise of a Mola Mola which gently cruised by! And to top…
The Nembrotha Cristata was just one of the Nudibranchs to delight our guests in Lembeh this week. This particular one resembles an old English Gentleman, with a large drooping moustache! We have some crazy, beautiful Nudibranchs here in Lembeh and this great shot was captured by our guests, Victor and Lynn. Nembrotha Cristata are from…
This week in Amed, our excellent PADI Divemaster trainee, Nathan Wong, managed to get a close-up picture of an Idiomysis. The good eye of our Dive Guide Dr Baron helped us find this very, but I mean, very tiny crustacean during a Muck Dive on our House Reef – right in front of the resort. Nathan…
Although most of my Divemaster course in Bunaken is done, this week I had a chance to spend a few days at our sister resort in Lembeh.
This week in Bunaken… Five different species of sea turtle are among the marine life Bunaken Marine Park is famous for and recently we’ve seen particularly big ones, true ‘battleship turtles in Bunaken’. They’re one of our guests’ favourite photography subjects. These past few days, they were in for a treat.
This week in Lembongan…. There is a lot more then just the big creatures here in Lembongan. To some divers it’s not the size that matters. Sadly it has been the motion of the ocean that has stopped us getting out to the manta spots this week but our dive guides have been finding lots of small creatures tucked away in the reef. Just like this goby fish sliding up and down the whip coral.
