Become a complete diver
The PADI Rescue Diver Course develops your knowledge and skills so that you will become a complete diver - someone who can look after themselves as well as others in the water by effectively performing diver assists and rescues, managing diving accident situations and giving first aid.
The course is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver, and we think that every diver should get to the level of Rescue Diver as it makes you completely self-sufficient in terms of rescuing yourself and other divers.
PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) certification is also a prerequisite for all PADI Divemaster and Instructor programs.
Rescue Course contents
The PADI Rescue Diver course is a 4/5 day course, and we normally include a couple of fun dives for free as part of the course.
There are 10 x in-water exercises and 4 x open water rescue scenarios, and there is a manual to read with a final exam. Unlike the other PADI courses, the chapters are linked with the exercises/scenarios, therefore the reading and exercises/scenarios need to be done in a certain order.
Flexible Scheduling
Doing the course in 4/5 days does not leave much room for fun dives, and we have therefore come up with a schedule linked with our fun-diving packages.
Since all our fun-diving packages are based on 2 fun dives in the morning, we have put together the following 7-day schedule that uses most of the afternoons for the Rescue Course:
|
Day 1 |
Arrival & registration |
|
Day 2 |
am - 2 fun dives |
|
Day 3 |
am - 2 fun dives; |
|
Day 4 |
am - 2 fun dives with rescue exercises in surface interval |
|
Day 5 |
am - 2 fun dives with rescue exercises in surface interval |
|
Day 6 |
am - full rescue morning with rescue exercises |
|
Day 7 |
am - 2 fun dives with rescue scenarios in surface interval |
|
Day 8 |
Depart (or more fun diving!) |
Obviously this schedule will change according to your progress, but you should still be able to fit in the 12 dives as well as the Rescue Diver course!
Special offer! - we want more divers to become Rescue Divers, we are there offering 5% discount on our fun-diving packages to anyone who follows the schedule above.
Pre-requisite for the Rescue Diver course
You need to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent, and have completed a first aid course within the last two years. The first aid course can be the PADI EFR, or another course that includes CPR and AV techniques.
We can run the PADI EFR course for you at the start of your course if this is needed, it is a 1-day non-diving course so it is easy to schedule with your Rescue Diver course.
Rescue Diver and the Master Scuba Diver (MSD) rating
The MSD rating is the highest PADI non-professional rating for scuba divers. For those who want to go into the dive business to work then the divemaster course should be the first level to aim for. However, for those who just want to have fun and want to extend their knowledge and experience in their hobby, then the MSD is the level to aim for.
Requirements for MSD:
- 5 specialties, and
- PADI advanced open water certificate, and
- PADI rescue diver certificate, and
- at least 50 logged dives
