Lembeh Straits is a Mecca for underwater photographers as they love the current-free (well most of the time!) waters, sandy bottoms and the multitude of crazy critters we have living here!
They both spent time with Gizmo (our resident photography instructor and resort manager) learning firstly about caring and looking after their underwater cameras. They went on to learn about understanding the camera and how to maximize the functions to get the best possible photos underwater.
One of the most important elements of a good photo is good composition and lighting and Gizmo gave them both plenty of tips on taking the best photo possible.
Even the world’s best photographers use a photo-editing programme and during their course both Dan and James gained some skills in ‘post production’!
Check out a mixture of their photos in the album. A couple of my favourites are the Feather Star on Whip Coral and Lionfish/Bannerfish Ménage (see above)!
Thanks to James and Dan for allowing us to publish their photos and ‘Great Job’ to both of them!

Late last week we received a call from Marion saying that her and her friends were interested in completing their Open Water Course with us. They had read about diving in Sulawesi and were initially interested in completing the course in Bunaken but when they were told that could complete it as well here in Lembeh, they decided to come over to the ‘Dark Side’ to become certified divers!
We started the Open Water Course as a group of five but Remi wasn’t feeling too well and so decided to complete the academics and confined (skills!) part of the course – he did a great job and should go on to complete his open water dives. Marion, Pauline, Sebastien and Pierre continued on with the courses and completed it without a hitch – we didn’t have to repeat a single skill and they all passed the exam with flying colours! It was great watching them swim along behind me looking like professionals from the start!
Sylvain was completing his Advanced Open Water course at the same time and hearing how much he enjoyed the night dive – Sebastien and Pierre also decided to complete their Adventure Night and Deep Dives and so have already completed two fifths of their advanced course!
On their final day of diving we went out and did their first muck dive and judging by the looks on their faces when they saw Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Ornate Ghost Pipefish, Seahorses, Cuttlefish and many cool crabs they enjoyed it as much as they did the course.
Team France – it was a pleasure teaching you all and having you stay with here in Two Fish Lembeh. We would love to have you back!! Well done again and Keep Diving!!!
Helen (our resident Instructor) and Cyril had lots of fun practicing the confined skills out on the house reef , where Cyril also spent some time to master his buoyancy control whilst enjoying meeting some of the residents who live out the front of Two Fish Divers!
After this we headed out on the boat to complete the Open Water Dives, were Cyril saw Pygmy Seahorses, flounders, moray eels and lots of cool crabs and shrimps!! We think that we have made another Scuba Addict in Cyril judging by the smile on his face after every dive!! Last thing to do was to pass the exam which he did with 98%!!
Cyril wanted to make the most of his trip to Lembeh so decided on also completing his Advanced Open Water course as well during his stay. During this course he tried his hand at underwater photography, night diving and continued to work in mastering his buoyancy on the Peak Performance Buoyancy dive.
Again we would like to say WELL DONE to Cyril, it was great having you stay and watching you develop into a happy, confident diver!
If you are planning to come to Lembeh and are interested in taking a dive course whilst you are here then please do not hesitate to contact Helen (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information or with any questions you may have.
Luke and Meagan are currently completing their Divemaster Internship with Two Fish Divers and they came over to Lembeh to complete some of their PADI specialties with us and also sneak in a few fun dives as well.
They both completed their Night Diver specialty , over 3 dives, which was great fun and we saw lots of the cool critters that come out night, in particular lots of crazy decorator crabs and mating Nudibranchs!
Luke decided to complete the Search and Recovery spe cialty which is not only good fun but extremely interesting and you get to learn some pretty different skills to what you would on other dive courses. We have trying out different search patterns and using lift bags to recover the objects that we have found! Luke is now a master of his digital compass!!
Meagan really enjoys underwater photography and so decided to complete her Digital Underwater Photography specialty, where she is learning to good composition, all about the different functions on her camera and also some nifty bits of advice on techniques to use underwater and also on land in the editing suite!! Have a look at her awesome photos!
Towards the end of their stay Luke got an ear infection but he insisted that Meagan continue to do her Wreck Diver Specialty with Gizmo. She learn about safe wreck diving techniques, penetration methods and also had to make a map of part of the Mawali Wreck – with is just five minutes from our resort!
We have really enjoyed having them stay with us and getting to teach them some new skills and hope that they have enjoyed as much as us!

Two Fish Divers Lembeh would like to congratulate Maitri Fischer on completing his Enriched Air, Digital Underwater Photography and Deep Diver specialties during his stay with us! A perfect student, knowledge reviews where completed on time and he even scored 96% in his Enriched Air exam!! We did allow him some time off to enjoy some normal fun dives where he could continue to work on his camera skills!!
Here are some of the pictures that he took during his time with us.
You would think that maybe he has had enough learning for one holiday but he is off to our Bunaken resort to complete his Rescue Diver and Emergency First Response course over there!!
It has been great having Maitri to stay, a really fun student who is eager and willing to learn! We hope you come back soon!!
