Our IDC started at the beginning of this week. We have three candidates – Rod and Gina, and one of our local dive guides Dion – and they are being very spoilt with the services of both Course Director Brendon and Staff Instructor Tina!
Following on from the first ever IDC on Bunaken, PADI held the first ever PADI Instructor Exam (IE) 18-20 September 2007 in Gran Puri, a hotel in Manado City.
There were 6 candidates – 4 from Two Fish Divers and 2 from Eco Divers – and we would like to say thanks to PADI and examiner Rob Scammell for supporting the area by holding the IE.
Two Fish Divers held the very first IDC (Instructor Development Course) on Bunaken 9-17 September 2007. We had 4 candidates – Marco, Pim Sammy and Raphael – and they all passed with flying colours. We wish them all luck in their future careers as PADI instructors.
In the photo there is also Brendon our CD (on left) who ran the course, and Tina (on right) who helped with the course.
We hope that Bunaken will become popular with people wanting to learn to become instructors, and we are going to hold IDC’s every June and September.
We had a great time over Easter – the weather was blue skies and sun and the viz was 20-25m so the diving was perfect. We were full during the week before Easter and had a great crowd of guests, and we taught our youngest ever diver – Baptiste (picture top right) is only 10 years old and he passed his open water course with flying colours. He was visiting us with his older brother Zach and father Byrne (picture bottom right), they were here 2 years ago when we taught Zach to dive, and Baptiste has had to wait until turning 10 before he could follow in his brothers footsteps (or fin kicks!). Congratulations Baptiste, happy diving, and we hope to see you again.

Neil started his PADI Divemaster course with Two Fish on 7 Feb. He decided to take a relaxed approach which has meant that he has been able to spend more time helping with courses and guests, and therefore getting more experience.
Its 13 March now and he has just about finished, just a 1-day EFR refresher to do so congratulations to him. Whats next for him? He is on an extended trip so is debating whether to continue traveling, or stay another month to get more experience and do his Assistant Instructor course but he needs to check his bar bill first!
Neil has been a great help with guests, and has taken some great photos over the last month. Check out some of these on Neil at Flickr
