Our Course Director Brendon Sing is presenting a weekly Shark Guardian Presentation at Two Fish Bunaken. As divers we do care about sharks and this is a great way to learn more about them and have chat about this subject at Blue Parrot Cafe.
SHARK GUARDIAN PRESENTATION
The Shark Guardian multimedia based slide show has been in development for over 10 years. The presentation is unique and incorporates a combination of brilliant images and films, leaving the audience amazed and with a new found insight and appreciation for sharks. The presentation is designed to show people the true and natural beauty of sharks, their role in the eco-system and why sharks are vital for all life on Earth. The Shark Guardian presentation is suitable for all ages and when necessary it is altered to suit the audience.
As part of the presentation Brendon wants to show the audience how they can help and get involved with shark conservation efforts anywhere in the world. Through education and action, with the belief that we can make a difference and with the right motivation, we can achieve stronger protection for sharks worldwidePLEASE VISIT THE SHARK GUARDIAN WEBSITE
TODAY WE WANT TO SAY CONGRATS TO CAROLINE, CRAIG AND JEAN FOR THEIR NITROX SPECIALITY CERTIFICATION.
What are the Benefits of Nitrox?
In scuba diving, “nitrox” refers to a breathing gas with a higher percentage of oxygen and a lower percentage of nitrogen than normal air. Tanks filled with nitrox must bear a clear label that reads “Enriched Air Nitrox.” Nitrox provides several benefits for divers.
The unsafe absorption of nitrogen into the body’s tissues limits dive times with normal air. Because nitrox contains a lower percentage of nitrogen, your body absorbs less of this gas during a dive, meaning that you can stay underwater for longer. Nitrox does not allow for unlimited dive time, however. You must follow standard dive time and decompression tables specific to nitrox diving.
These beautiful cuttlefish get their name from the flamboyant pink, yellow and black ripples they make with their bodies when alarmed.
This small cuttlefish is just 8cm (3in) in length.
They are found in northern Australia and Indonesia.
A tropical species with limited distribution, it is found on the seabed in shallow waters.
Small fish and crustaceans.
Active in the day the cuttlefish uses vision to detect its prey. It’s capable of rapid colour change that might be used to confuse predators or prey.
Like other cephalopods, the flamboyant cuttlefish breeds once and then dies.
