I arrived in Bunaken after 24 hours of travelling. So very tired but at the same time very excited to be here…
When arriving it was just getting to know all the surroundings and how things work. On the first “real” day here it was just two fun dives and getting to know the procedures.
THIS WEEK IN LEMBEH…Blue Ringed Octopus are out in force along with Wonderpus, Pontohi Pygmy Seahorse, Ornate Ghost Pipefish, Giant, Painted and Hairy Frogfish, and the ultimate of the Lembeh hairy creatures – the Hairy Octopus Plus, where are all of these humungous Stonefish coming from? We’re seeing them everywhere!

Lots of scorpion leaf fish in all ranges of colours, eagle rays, giant trevellies, schools of tuna down in the deep plus crocodile fish galore!! We don’t see many normally but this week they have been out in abundance including 4 hanging out together at Barracuda point. Thanks to Jimmy our DMT for this great shot! Crocodile fish can live to be 14 years old and start off entirely black before developing their amazing camouflage skin as adults!

That afternoon I sat down with my instructor and was given my Divemaster Pack, my eyes popped out of my head. I asked “will I finish all this in 4 weeks?” Answer – Yes. With a confident instructor and a well laid out timetable, its possible
