The maximum depth limit for recreational diving is 40m, this is for everyone from open water through to instructor.

Tec Deep Diver Course

The Tec Deep Diver course will train you to dive to 55m, and the skills and knowledge will allow you to dive to this depth. These skills and knowldege include use of Advanced Nitrox, decompression procedures and extending no-decompression limits using Nitrox/100% Oxygen.

Our Tec Instructor is Brendon (also our Course Director), and he has done 100's of tec dives around Thailand & Bunaken. As a Tec Trmix Instructor he brings great experience to the Tec Deep Diver course.

600m walls on Bunaken

There are four good reasons to Tec Dive aorund Bunaken:

  1. The walls around Bunaken Island drop to more than 600m
  2. The dive sites are only 5-10mins from the resort
  3. The viz is 20-25m even at the 50-70m depths
  4. Bigger fish like large sharks & mantas may be found in the colder water at 55-70m depths

The water temperatures around Bunaken is 29-30oC and this is very good for the reef life - Bunaken Island is considered to be one of the most diverse marine envrionments on the planet. However, the larger animals such as larger shark & manta's like colder water. There are occasional sightings of these animals by our guests so they are here, and we believe that they are more likely to be found at the deeper levels 55-70m where the water is colder (25oC).

We also think that there are deep-water pinnacles and submerged islands which may offer some fantastic diving, and we will be doing some exploration of the area to find them - no one has ever done this type of exploration before!

Discover Tec

This short session allows divers to give technical diving a try. It does not result in a certification, but lets a diver experience wearing the extra gear involved in technical diving and understand the rationale behind it.

DURATION: Half-Day / 1 Dive

PRICE: €50 incl equip rent

TEC 40

The entry point into the technical range, Tec 40 provides a transition from recreational to technical diving. Although the use of full tech gear (doubles and wings) is preferred, it does allow modified use of recreational gear in some situations, provided the diver has two separate regulators, with one of the first stages fitted with a long hose. (For example, a main cylinder and pony cylinder combination). The intended working limit for a diver at this level is 40 metres/130 feet with up to 10 minutes of non-accelerated decompression. They may use any EANx mix with up to 50% oxygen content or air. To enrol on the course, a diver must be the equivalent of a PADI Advanced Open Water diver, with an EANx Diver rating and have deep recreational diving experience.

DURATION: 3 Days / 6 Dives

PRICE: €280 incl equip rent
+ €110 for course manuals & slates
(accomm extra)

TEC 45

The diver must use full ‘standardised’ tech rig, including wings and doubles plus an additional deco cylinder (note that side mounted cylinders are an acceptable alternative to back mounted doubles throughout the TecRec range). The course allows the diver to go to 45 metres/145 feet and make accelerated decompression dives using any mix of EANx or pure oxygen. A diver must have the equivalent of a Tec 40 rating to enrol on this course.

DURATION: 3 Days / 6 Dives

PRICE: €280 incl equip rent
+ €110 for course manuals & slates (if not already own)
(accomm extra)

TEC 50

This course represents a high level of competency for a technical diver. Although the option exists to make the last dive of the course using trimix, it is intended as an air/nitrox rating and by the end the diver can dive to a maximum of 50 metres/165 feet and make extended, accelerated decompression dives.

DURATION: 3 Days / 6 Dives

PRICE: €280 incl equip rent
+ €110 for course manuals & slates (if not already own)
(accomm extra)
