Last week we had pilot whales, mating mantas, rebreather diving and diving in the coral triangle! In Bunaken we had pilot whales and a whale shark; in Lembongan we manta’s mating in a train; in TEC we had lots of rebreather diving in Bunaken; and we have reports from our two DMT interns in Bunaken and Lembongan, plus a congrats to our new Instructor.
Meanwhile, from around the globe we offer you some more tips for taking a better photo; give you some interesting facts about frogfish; announce that all our resorts are ready to teach the new PADI Open Water Course; describe what it means for us to be in the Coral Triangle; share with you the future of family flying; and describe the type of BCDs that are available.
Plus, here is a photo of an evening beer time in Bunaken – beautiful dusk with high tide, full moon and a cold bintang in our beach cafe – wish you were here in Bunaken?
Regards from the Two Fish team
This Week in Two Fish
Our divers on Bunaken have been super lucky to spot both a whale shark and a pod of pilot whales during the surface intervals of the two morning dives!
It’s just the cycle of life, as mantas dance in their trains trying to impress the leading female as she ducks, dives, barrel rolls and dances her way to picking the perfect mate.
The last couple weeks out here in North Sulawesi on Bunaken the Blue Label Team has been having some amazing rebreather wreck diving. First there was Pek from Singapore diving on for a week on our rented MEG CCR, then we welcomed Anthony from Australia who brought along his own Pathfinder CCR. These past few days, Ben from Thailand joined the world of silent diving when he took the Poseidon MK6 course.
GOPro This Week
We have had a very busy week! In Bunaken we said goodbye to Hanna as she finished her Divemaster course with us. We also welcomed Joana to Bunaken, she was fresh from Seychelles doing a Marine Conservation and Research Program, and spent her first week doing her 100th dive with turtles and providing assistance on our IDC.
In Lembongan, our DMT Maya reports on Hard Times, But Fun Times, and we also said congrats to James who passed his IE this week in Manado!! James has been visiting us with his dad for more than 10 years, and he will be staying for another few weeks doing his Instructor Internship. Looking forward to working with you James!

More underwater photo tips from compact-camera expert Paul Colley.
We have been seeing two of everything in Lembeh, including frogfish, so we thought that you might be interested in some true facts about frogfish.
All of our resorts are now ready to teach the new PADI Open water course! This was developed this year and is designed to make better divers with more emphasis on safety like planning your own dive, air monitoring, SMB usage, etc.
Did you know that we are in the middle of the Coral Triangle, where live 76% of the world’s coral species, 6 of the world’s 7 marine turtle species, and at least 2,228 reef fish species?!?! Very cool. Find out why its so important.
Maybe this is the future for flights to Manado or Bali, family booths and kids clubs, but where is the in-flight entertainment
What type of BCD do you prefer – jacket, back-bouyancy or hybrid?
Thanks for learning with us!
Congrats to all our courses in Bunaken, Lembeh and Lembongan last week!! Hope to see you again at Two Fish Divers.
