This week in Lembongan…. It has been a week of large creatures. The start of the week was full of manta rays enthusiast which resulted in us heading, by request, to one of the manta dive sites 6 times over the course of 5 days. We are very understanding with our dive site picks and if that is what the people want, that is what the people get. On one day, we went to a manta dive site for all 3 of the dives. With all these trips to see mantas, our guests were not disappointed and they had the chance to see lots of manta rays as well as some other large creatures.
Manta Bay was where most of the action was happening this week. Not only was there a nice amount of manta rays that were hanging around for our divers to see but they also got the chance to spot a pod of dolphins. Not all the groups on the dive got the chance to see the dolphins, but the ones that did see them, think that there must have been at least 12 swimming by. The dolphins did not hang around long, they were more just passing in the distance. It was not all bad news for the ones that did not see the dolphins on this day, because just the next day, again at Manta Bay, our divers got the chance to see dolphins again. This time the ones that did not see the day before, got the chance to see them on the 2nd day. The 2nd time it was a smaller pod, but they had with them a baby. Instructor Rowan came back from his dives over the moon with having the chance to see them underwater. After all his years of diving, it was the first time he had seen dolphins under the water.
To top off the week, on many of our trips to Manta Bay, when our divers were not looking at dolphins or manta rays, they had the chance to see a few bamboo sharks hidden in the rock formations of the dive site.
All in all, a great week in Lembongan for the bigger creatures. We are back diving at Manta Bay today, so I wonder what they will see.
