This week, instructors Kate and Kuss have been so busy with PADI courses they needed a little support from centre manager George, who didn’t hesitate a second and swapped spreadsheets for scuba kit. The reward? Whitetip and blacktip reef sharks, batfish, frogfish and so much more.
High season has well and truly arrived on Gili Air and the whole team has had lots of time in-water, introducing new divers to the underwater world of the North Gili islands, showing qualified divers around and more. Whilst Kuss is getting ready to finish a PADI Scuba Diver course before starting a brand-new Open Water course, Kate has been busy teaching the PADI Rescue Diver course.
Arguably one of most divers’ all-time favourite courses, Rescue deals with a serious subject, but there is plenty of fun to be had in the water when you’re learning how to help other divers and, most importantly, how to prevent accidents from happening. Our dive guides and Divemaster trainees often get to pose as victims on the course, which gives them a great chance to refresh their on rescue skills. This week, it’s Harry’s turn.
Our fun divers have had lots of turtle sightings, of course. We’ve also been lucky enough to see both whitetip and blacktip reef sharks regularly. Frogfish Point has been a favourite with photographers and any guests keen on macro.
What’s more, our techie friends from Two Fish Divers Amed are here to check out how we may be adding a few more tanks to what we’re offering in Gili Air – watch this space!
