Our second PADI IDC at Two Fish Divers Lembongan started on 15 September with the IDC orientation and theory pre-evaluation!
We have two candidates, Jade & Jessica, and they are being looked after by Staff Instructor Paula and Course Director Mark so they are in good hands!
PADI IDC Fresh from her DM course
Jade is from Australia and came fresh from Two Fish Divers Bunaken where had just finished her Divemaster course. Two great advantages of going into the IDC straight away after finishing the Divemaster are:
- they have just finished their DM theory and so this knowledge is still fresh in their mind
- our DMTs gets to practice their in-water teaching skills a number of times, and so this is fresh as well
All this is an incredible preparation for the practical part of the IDC.
Jessica is from Holland and also recently did her DM course, but she did all of her training mainly in cold waters and low visibility, so the warm and clear waters of Nusa Lembongan will be an added experience during her IDC.
IDC Nerves are settled
Of course everybody is a little anxious and uncertain at the beginning of an IDC. To become a Dive Instructor is often a life changing experience. It is not only about opening new horizons, but it is also about getting to know people through their different cultures, habits, expectations, etc. It is about feeling a large amount of responsibility, but also enjoying greatly all the experiences that come together with it. It is about discovering oneself in other people’s reactions, thoughts, and actions.
Fortunately, after the first morning, Mark put the whole team at easy and now everybody is excited about what is coming next. The first academic presentations, confined water sessions, and open water presentations are always unforgettable!
We are getting ready to spend the next days learning loads and having enormous fun!
Good luck to our IDC candidates!
