If you are planning on diving Bali then you need to where the hottest dive sites are to see some of the iconic marine life that Bali is famous for. Check out our guide to diving Bali’s best dive sites here!
Overview of diving Bali
At just under 6,000km squared Bali is only a small part of Indonesia but it has undoubtedly one of the biggest personalities. From lively, colorful dance displays to peaceful and serene meditation there is something about Bali that will inspire everyone. Bali is approximately 153km from east to west and approximately 112km from north to south but within that area it boasts a wealth of natural beauty from dramatic volcanoes to picture postcard white sand beaches.
The diving around Bali is as diverse as the island itself. Dive sites vary from warm, aquamarine tranquil bays to sites in front of rugged cliff faces with steep drop-offs and adrenaline pumping drifts. There is something for every level of diver here from the beginner to the seasoned expert. The diversity of marine life is exceptional and Bali provides one of the few opportunities for divers to see the mighty mola (oceanic sunfish – mola ramsayi) manta rays and other large pelagics – but diving in Bali is not only for ‘big fish’ enthusiasts, macro divers have a selection of treats awaiting them too – the pygmy sea horse, frogfishes, ghost pipe fish and a plethora of nudibranch species to name but a few can all be found on Bali’s fringing coral reefs.
In short, it would be a tough challenge to find a diver who would not be happy with diving in Bali!
