The PADI Rescue Diver Course is a fantastic way to improve not only your diving ability and knowledge but it also improves your awareness to potential problems under the water. Combined with the Emergency First Responder course, you are set to help people around the world whether you are in or out of the water.
During your Emergency First Responder (EFR) course, you will learn basic first aid techniques as well as learning the appropriate ways to give CPR. With your rescue course, you learn a variety of very useful skills. Many people feel that it is important to learn basic rescue skills.
During the course you will learn how to spot and prevent problems from happening. You will also learn what to do in the event of an accident. Whether it might be a missing diver, a marine life injury or an out of air scenario, the rescue course will equip you with the relevant tools to deal with each emergency in a controlled and effective manner.
There are many reasons to consider doing your rescue course. The most common reason people do their rescue course is because it is a prerequisite to the PADI Divemaster Course which you can also complete in Lembeh! Another common reason is to be able to assist your buddy in their time of need. Many people have a dive partner or dive in groups and often feel obliged to under go a rescue course to improve their usefulness as a dive buddy.
If you go on many dive holidays where your guide is rescue trained then you might not feel it’s very important to be trained yourself but you never know when these skills could come in handy. If you do many shore dives with your buddies, then it is highly recommended you all go through some sort of rescue training. The PADI Rescue Diver Course is the perfect accompaniment to these shore dives.
In Lembeh, there are not many currents or overhead obstructions to worry about. The most dangerous things are the incredible animals you are here to see! The Blue Ring Octopus, Flamboyant Cuttlefish, Mototi Octopus, Ambon Scorpionfish (and the rest!) all pack a poisonous punch. It is always special when you get to see these animals and the rescue course really emphasises the respect we need to show to the underwater world.
