This week, we dived with return guest Mark in Candidasa and Padang Bai. We started off at Mimpang, the second dive was at Tepekong, and the third dive was at the famous muck diving site the Jetty in Padang Bai. A day with pelagics, muck and everything in between in Bali.
On the first two dives, we saw White Tip Reef Sharks! We were very lucky as the sharks hadn’t been seen very often lately. The weather was great and the conditions on both dives were amazing. At Mimpang, the first dive we dropped down and found a shark lying on the sandy bottom.
We swam in a large circle around it, trying not to disturb the shark, but at one point the shark decided he’d had enough attention so he(she?) swam away. Shallowing up from the sandy bottom we enjoyed the dive with a very good visibility and barely any currents, a very relaxing dive.
At Tepekong, we have not spotted the sharks for a while, so we had our fingers crossed whether we would see them. Luckily for us, there were 3 baby sharks swimming around in their cavern. They were not at all bothered by our presence so we stayed for a while enjoying these amazing apex predators. After the sharks, we swam around the island, enjoyed the deep wall, which is a pretty amazing drop off, and even spotted a turtle on the end of the dive.
To finish the day, we returned to Padang Bai to dive the Jetty. Also at the Jetty we found amazing visibility, nice and warm water and we spotted some pelagics such as pipefish, frogfish, baby cuttlefish and a whole bunch of scorpionfish.
Then after 3 dives, it was time for lunch and we enjoyed an ice cold beer at the end of a great day!
