Tuna is on our mind this week, as we have made another visit to Ron’s point, where at around 30-40 meters deep, there is a shelf at which these giant silvery fish like to hang out. Unfortunately, it is becoming less and less common to pass large fish whilst diving as the demand for pelagic fish like blue fin and yellow fin tuna, barracuda, sail fish and mackerel to name a few, increases for consumption.
Luckily, we have several dive sites around our island where we do frequently encounter these spectacular tuna, and boy are they BIG! Our all time favorite and VIP guest Ben is back at Two Fish Bunaken, and he was the lucky diver to observe these massive tuna with his side kick Kres, his personal dive guide, to guide him to this deep shelf. They were stoked upon returning to the resort and claimed the tuna were as big as divers!
This week we have had to say good bye to Laurence and Alana from the UK and Canada whom stayed with us for a week. Laurence actually completed his instructor course with Two Fish some 10 years ago, and he was showing his soon to be wife Alana around Bunaken and Lembeh.
It was also time to say good bye to Niko from Germany, who has admitted to be a dedicated reader of our blog posts so he has certainly earned a special mention here! Niko thanks for staying with us, it was a pleasure to have you here and we wish you many more beautiful dives in Lembeh! 🙂
We have the pleasure of hosting Ben’s daughter Loyane, this Christmas and we have had Yannick and Vivian from the Netherlands check in for a couple of days diving before they head home for Christmas. Though the resort is fairly quiet due to the rainy season being in full swing, the atmosphere is still fantastic as everyone is in the Christmas spirit.
The resort has been beautifully decorated by our resort manager Nona and her team of helpers, making especially the evenings extra cozy with all the flickering Christmas lights around the bar, reception and of course the restaurant.
The staff are getting really excited for the annual Two Fish Christmas party at which they are all invited to bring their families and kids along to the resort for a shared meal and evening full of music, dancing and singing, so plenty to look forward to this upcoming week. Do you have your Christmas plans sorted? There are some spaces still available at our table!
