My training is over, I’m now a Padi Dvemaster! It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Two Fish Amed. I have been assisting on PADI Open Water Courses, Advanced Open Water Courses and Discover Scuba Diving both in the pool and on the many dive sites here in Amed. Through these courses (and lots of practice) I have developed and honed the 24 mandatory skills on which all DMT’s are assessed. I passed with flying colours and all the result of training tips and advice form the resident instructors Markus and Easie. Special mention also needs to go to Christina, an instructor visiting Amed for a few weeks.
On 16 February, we also participated along with a few Two Fish Divers customers on the One Island One Nation/No Trash Hero clean-up of Melasty beach. A number of local children and adults participated as part of a campaign to educate children about safeguarding the environment and it was great to work alongside them. The great pity was how much plastic and inorganic rubbish was collected in the space of an hour – something like 200kg. But at least it is 200kg that won’t go back into the sea.
So now it is all over, and as the sun sets behind Mt Agung, I can relax with a Bintang and think of all the fun dives I will do in the next week. If you have ever thought of becoming a divemaster and have hesitated, don’t. Yes, it is challenging but it is rewarding. If I can do in as I approach 60, so can you ?
