This month Air Asia officially launched Lombok as its fifth air hub in Indonesia after Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan and Bali. As part of this, on 8 May a new daily AirAsia service connecting Lombok and Kuala Lumpur commenced operations, and in June it will launch its new four-times-a-week flight service connecting Lombok with Perth, Western Australia.

When you are searching for South Lombok online it’s worth noting that the Southern Gili Islands (as opposed to the well known northern Gili’s of Trawangan, Air and Meno) are known by a few different names – look out for “the Secret Gili’s”. “the Southern Gili’s, and as Air Asia are calling them “the Three New Gili’s”.

For nature lovers this is a haven for sea birds and monitor lizards, for divers, the underwater world is second to none, offer hammerheads and schooling mobulas in Belongas Bay and stunning reefs which are packed with abundant reef fish and critters around the southern Gilis.
