PADI Diving Courses in Bunaken

advanced course bunaken

  • We have been in Indonesia for more than 15 years, teaching more than 3,000 people to scuba dive.
  • We have small class sizes of max 4 students, often with only 1 or 2 students.
  • We have full-time, experienced instructors.
  • Safety is our first concern, and our dive equipment is fully maintained.
  • We include dive insurance and a dive computer as standard in your course, unlike other centres in Bunaken.
  • We are a PADI 5 Star center based on Bunaken Island, a tropical-island location that offers a relaxing and friendly environment, with world-class diving at your door-step.

Bunaken is an ideal location to take a diving course. The reefs have a huge variety of soft and hard corals that offer a home to an abundance of reef fish such as fusiliers, butterflyfish, sweetlips, cardinal fish and damsel fish. Turtles, barracudas and reef sharks call the reefs their home as well, and you can also find wall-critters such as scorpion fish, nudibranch, lionfish, and seahorses hidden on the walls.

We have over 50 different dive sites and several of them are great for training dives with gentle sandy slopes to practice your skills, rarely any currents and plenty of fish, gorgeous corals as well as the turtles that Bunaken is so famous for.

We always aim to bring you to the best dive site for that day, depending on the conditions and the part of the course that you are doing.

The second most popular scuba diving course in the world is the PADI Advanced Open Water Course, and we can run this for you in Bunaken over 2 or 3 days.

The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your instructor.

It also opens up more diving possibilities, enhances your skills, and once you are certified you can dive deeper to 30m/100ft giving you access to a wider variety of dive sites and marine life. • Why do the eLearning option? The main reason is to maximise your dives whilst you are here since you do not need to do the theory – instead you van do more fun dives or just relax!

“Challenging” and “rewarding” best describe the PADI Rescue Diver course. The course develops your knowledge and skills so that you will become a complete diver – someone who can look after themselves as well as others in the water by effectively performing diver assists and rescues, managing diving accident situations and giving first aid.

The course is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver, and we think that every diver should get to the level of Rescue Diver as it makes you completely self-sufficient in terms of rescuing yourself and others.

PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) certification is also a prerequisite for all PADI Divemaster and Instructor programs.

Standard Option – Rescue Course over 3days

  • PADI Rescue Diver course over 3days

  • First Aid not done within previous 2years? Have First Aid but no CPR? We can run the PADI EFR course for you at the start of your course if this is needed, it is a 1-day non-diving course so it is easy to schedule with your Rescue Diver course.

Note: the Rescue Course & EFR will be run over 4days, unless you take the eLearning option.

Through Knowledge Reviews, 10 Rescue Skills and 2 Rescue Scenarios you will learn:

  • Self rescue
  • Recognizing and managing stress in other divers
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Rescuing panicked divers
  • Rescuing unresponsive divers

This option allows you to study the knowledge development online before you come and visit us. You will need to complete the theory before you visit us, and you will then complete the in-water training sessions here with your PADI Instructor.

  • Why do the eLearning option? The Rescue Course will still take 3days so why do the eLearning option?

The main reason is to maximise your dives whilst you are here. Since you do not need to do the theory whilst you are here you you can do more fun dives – one popular option is to do fun dives in the mornings and the Rescue Course in the afternoon!

Doing EFR as well? If you need to do EFR then the Rescue & EFR can still take 3days.

The Navigation course consists of four open water training dives and includes planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of underwater navigation.

The Fun Part
The last dive is a treasure-hunt dive where we will lay out a course with markers at different locations. Then they turn to you, because as a PADI Underwater Navigator, you know the way back to the boat.

What You Will Learn

  • Navigation patterns
  • Natural navigation (without a compass)
  • Compass navigation
  • How to “mark” or relocate a submerged object or position from the surface
  • Underwater map making

Sometimes, only the trained, experienced eye recognizes that a small hole or open door likely caused the vessel’s demise. Bunaken Marine Park is considered to have the greatest marine diversity in the world and is therefore a great place to do this course. This is also a great course to complete in Lembeh as you will not see some of the underwater critters anywhere else in the world.

  • The major aquatic life groupings, interactions and factual information that dispels negative myths
  • The role of aquatic plants, food chains and predator prey relationships

The Peak Performance Buoyancy course consists of two open water training dives, and is a great opportunity to polish buoyancy control. What is neutral buoyancy? It can be a tricky thing. Divers who’ve mastered the highest performance levels in buoyancy stand apart. You’ve seen them underwater. They glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover, almost as if by thought. They interact gently with aquatic life and affect their surroundings minimally. The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course refines the basic skills you learned as a PADI Open Water Diver and elevates them to the next level.

The Fun Part
Gaining better understanding and skills to be able to control your buoyancy to a level and with such precision you may not have thought possible. We make this a bit more fun by setting up an underwater obstacle course for you to practice the above techniques, and we will guarantee that the course will dramatically improve your time underwater.

What You Will Learn

  • How to trim (position and distribute) your scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water
  • Subtle differences in determining weight so you’re not too light nor too heavy by even a slight degree
  • How to streamline to save air and move smoothly through the water
  • How to hover effortlessly in both vertical and horizontal position
  • Visualisation techniques and achieving neutral buoyancy

speciality diving courses

The Enriched Air course consists of two open water training dives, two practical applications and some theory. Scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression dive time. This means more time underwater, especially on repetitive scuba dives.

The Fun Part
You can typically stay down longer and get back in the water sooner. No wonder many divers choose this as their very first specialty.

What You Will Learn

  • Techniques for getting more dive time by using enriched air nitrox, by using and applying the benefits of enriched air for recreational diving
  • Enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations
  • Enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure, how to tell what’s in your scuba tank (analyzing) and how to set your dive computer (if you have one)
  • Planning and making no decompression dives using primarily enriched air nitrox blends containing 22 to 40 percent oxygen, remaining within accepted dive table and oxygen exposure limits
  • Going through the process of obtaining enriched air from a blending facility, and getting a direct overview of how operations blend enriched air nitrox
  • Managing and avoiding possible enriched air hazards
